Louis Minadeo, 95, of Medford, NJ, passed peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2024.
Lou was born on April 22, 1929 in the Bronx, New York. He attended college at The City College of New York (CCNY) before being drafted into the United States Army in 1951. Lou served for two years during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany as part of the Occupation Force in 1952. Upon discharge from the Army, Lou was hired by IBM where he held various positions including field technician, management, and headquarters staff over a career span of 34 years before retiring as Safety Manager in 1987 at the age of 58.
On June 3, 1956 he wed his wife of 65 years, the late Catherine Minadeo. Over the years, Lou and Cathy traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Lou was a longtime member of the Medford Village Country Club, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, trivia, military history, and watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He was also actively involved for 20 years with the Medford Senior Center in Cranberry Hall where he played bridge and pinochle and enjoyed the company of many dear friends. Lou was always eager to teach card games to anyone who was interested, no matter their level of experience.
Lou is survived by his daughter Elise and partner Glenn; son Robert and wife Caren; granddaughter Kaitlin, husband Andrew, and great granddaughter Isabella; grandson Matt and wife Emily;granddaughter Maria and partner Thaddeus; and grandson Joe. Lou is also survived by his sister Deborah and family; brother Nicholas and family; nephew Richard and family; nephew Bruce; and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was Gramps to his grandchildren and Papa to his great granddaughter. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.
