AUGUST "GUY" GEORGE HANDT passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at his home in Southampton, NJ. He was 81 years old, passing just hours before his 82nd birthday. Born in Woodbury, NJ, he was the son of the late Alvin George and Erma (nee Marshall) Handt and the devoted husband of the late Margaret (nee Hooven) Handt.

A longtime resident of Marlton and Southampton, NJ, he was raised in Woodbury Heights, NJ. Guy was a career golf professional, a loyal Eagles fan, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a longtime member of the Foxy Gunning Club and Medford VFW Post 7677. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Specialist 4 in the 27th Infantry Regiment, known as the "Wolfhounds," of the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart after stepping on a landmine. Strength and survival defined his life. He faced extraordinary challenges with grit, competitive fire, and an unwavering refusal to quit.

Guy was the beloved father of Scott Handt (Kelly) of Southampton, NJ; Lisa Handt Fagan (Mustafa) of Northfield, NJ; Cheryl Sheehan (Robert) of Marlton, NJ; and Joseph Witherow (Nancy) of Medford, NJ. He was also the proud grandfather of ten: Kayla and Luke; Caoimhe, Aislinn, and Callum; Kelly and Stephanie; and Jennifer, Jacqueline, and Joseph.

The oldest of five siblings, Guy is survived by Alvin Handt (Fran), Susan Justice, Karen Phelps (Mike), Mark Handt, and many nieces and nephews. In recent months, Susan lovingly cared for her brother. He loved and was beloved by the extended Hooven family.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, Medford, NJ.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests memorial donations to Medford VFW Post 7677 College Scholarship Fund, 317 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055. (www.BradleyStow.com)
