Alan "Al” Wenzke, a cherished resident of Moorestown, peacefully passed away in the evening of February 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of memories. He was 82 years old.

Alan was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 30, 1941, to his late parents, Alfred and Mae Wenzke.

Following service in the Navy Commissary on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, Alan’s career included being a master baker, semitruck operator, quality control manager in various food industries and finally a maintenance mechanic at Ocean Spray Cranberries in Bordentown, NJ. After retirement, he began a new career as a chauffeur to airports, cruise terminals and doctors’ offices.

Outside of his professional life, Al was known for his warmth, generosity, and love for his family and friends. He enjoyed the innocence of nature and was meticulous in the upkeep of his gardens. As a motorhead, Al was known for his beautiful cars. His love for them progressed as they got louder and faster.

Al was married for over 54 years to Joyce Wenzke (nee Werner), who bumped into his 1968 Z-28 Camaro on a snowy morning. He took immense pride in his role as a father to Joe (Susan) and Ken (Autumn), and a grandfather to Darrienn (Anastasia), Ben, Parker, Emma, Quinn, and Kenzie. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Landon, experiencing the delight of yet another generation.

Al was a beloved brother to Edward (Anita), and Bob (Eileen), and to the late Fred (LaVerne), and Richard (Liz). His warmth and love will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, as well as the customers with whom he shared a special bond.

The people of the First Presbyterian Church were considered his extended family. He loved to make baked goods for the weekly Men’s Bible Study. He made chili, cooked hamburgers, flipped hot cakes, and sliced strawberries for many events at the church. Al was involved in the church’s missions committee for many years. He traveled to Kenya, Mexico, Haiti, Louisiana, Mississippi, even New Jersey, for various construction works of mission. He was always available to help others.

Al leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
